Having recently got a Hauppauge WinTV PVR 250 card, I finally tried recording something to the hard disk instead of just using it to watch TV on the computer. It’s brilliant!
…are just like buses. You hang around waiting for ages and 3 come along at once. Yeah, ok - I know that I’m just writing a third entry for the sake of it ;)
In case anyone’s wondering about how I got on with giving up Diet Coke, I’m back on it.. however, I did go for 35 days without any and now only have one or two cans a day. I guess aiming for a specific timeframe such as 28 days really works. Although intake of diet …
Well, only a few weeks to go but it seems like the shops have had Christmas goods available for months! Eventually we’ll be just moving into July and they’ll be advertising Christmas :-( Oh, and I’ve still not bought any Christmas presents.. nevermind eh?
We now have a 12cm hole in the kitchen wall. Ok, so it’s not giant mice. Thanks Dad! It’s just right for the new extractor fan to vent through. The hob also fits into the worktop properly now as well.. not long now before the kitchen is finished.
I’ve been messing around writing some perl modules for use with starting and maintaining a database index of multimedia objects - audio, video, pictures. The kind of thing that could be used as a base for one of those Photo Album websites.
It’s been 3 whole days since I had any diet coke (since sunday night)… many cups of tea seems to have helped keep me awake when required although it’s a lot harder to wake up in the morning. I’ve been told it takes 28 days to make or break a habit.. 3 and …
Well, the kitchen is getting there slowly. Not much left to do before the electrician can come back and wire in the appliances. Then we can get the sink fitted in properly so that we have water in the kitchen once more. My advice to anyone considering replacing their kitchen - …
Kids toys seem to be rather odd these days.. my old Action Man used to have swivel eyes operated with a lever in the back of his head. Harry’s Action Man that he got for his birthday has one of those radar systems built in and says things like “I smell you”, …
USB extension cables.. you might think it’s simple to get them working. You just plug them into the PC, plug the device into the other end and job done. Not so. After much messing around trying to get it to work, it seems that active (like a mini usb hub one end?) USB …
Hooray! It finally works, well I can get 160x120 video with xawtv anyway. Now to find out how to get a larger image and work out where to put the camera to get something vaguely interesting.. insmod pwcx-i386.o and hey presto! a slightly bigger image (still not 640x480 though). …
Having not had any success with the old Logitech Quickcam Express as a webcam attached to a linux box, I figured it’d be worth spending a bit more than the 45 quid for 2 that I spent on the QCE about a year ago. Did a bit of research, read reviews online, looked for drivers …
Having watched Vanilla Sky last night, I have to say that it’s a really strange film in places. Definitely not one for the kids though due to the bad language and nudity. Nice twist in the story at the end although the film was a little on the long side at just over 2 hours …
Car alarms are great… except when they’re so sensitive that accidentally trapping a moth or some other insect in there sets it off late at night! This isn’t the first time either, wonder if there’s a sensitivity adjustment feature somewhere, now where did …
Having spent the best part of an hour looking at doorbells in B&Q, we finally picked one that included one battery for the push button, but none for the actual chime unit. Why on earth don’t doorbell manufacturers include all 3 batteries required, or none at all?! Of …
You never realise how important some things are until they’re not available. Having spent much of Thursday ripping out the final cabinet in the kitchen and replacing it, we never quite got as far as plumbing the sink back in… and now it’s being sorely missed.
Bank Holiday Monday with 3 days off after it and a weekend off before it.. great! Time to get the kitchen cabinets built and fitted, and clear up the dining room ready for the floor to be done on Thursday.
Having borrowed Crazy Taxi for the gamecube from a friend, I have to say it’s a really fun game and as the title suggests, pretty crazy too! A definite must if you just want to have some fun rather than serious gameplay, just don’t get used to running pedestrians over …
Well, having stayed up quite late sorting this blog out along with the one at enigmaticsheep.com for Jaq, is it any wonder I’m tired? A bottle of diet coke should sort that though.
This could be the start of a truly boring web journal (blog). <intro style=‘voiceover:superman’> By day he’s a mild mannered programmer for Host Europe but by night he becomes Geekman! </intro> Well ok, so that’s not quite right, but close …
